BRANDON GARDEN CLUB RECEIVES AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE
Brandon Garden Club, Inc. (BGC) was established in 1952 and continues to be a driving force in the community.
BGC is proud of its recognition by The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc. (GCM) for its continued outstanding performance. GCM has 106 member clubs. BGC is a member of GCM’s Natchez Trace District.
BGC was proud to receive first-place awards from GCM, Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc. (DSGC), and National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) at the most recent conventions.
National Garden Clubs, Inc. recognized BGC for its public relations via website and Facebook.
BGC’s awards include overall GCM Public Relations Award, overall GCM and DSGC winner Publicity Press Book, and third place winner DSGC Yearbook. BGC also received a Plant America grant for construction of a greenhouse at The Spot Downtown, a vocational training workshop for special needs students in the Rankin County School District.
In 2021 BGC received an NGC Outstanding Achievement award for its project to treat crape myrtle bark scale on 295 crape myrtles in two cemeteries owned by the City of Brandon. The annual treatment of crape myrtles is an ongoing project now continued by the City of Brandon.
LIFE MEMBERSHIPS
Brandon Garden Club, Inc. presents at least one Life Membership in The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc. each year. At its May luncheon, the recipient was Ann Wentz. Dixie Vance, BGC President, was given a Life Membership in National Garden Clubs, Inc.
